Use these endpoints to search and view saved accounts, and create or update accounts individually or in bulk. You can also retrieve account stages, move accounts between stages, and assign or change account owners.
Key concepts
| Accounts and companies | Accounts are companies saved in your team's Apollo workspace. Companies are organizations in Apollo not yet saved to your workspace. To find companies in Apollo's database, use organization search. |
| Identifying an account | Search and create responses return an account id that you can pass to view or update the record. An account ID identifies your saved account; an organization ID identifies a company in Apollo's database. |
| Creating and updating | Create adds a new saved account; update changes an existing one. Creating an account doesn't deduplicate records. Bulk create accounts supports deduplication, but returns matched accounts without changing them. Use an update endpoint to change existing records. |
| Stages and owners | Stages track an account's progress through your sales process. Owners are team members responsible for the account. Use stage IDs and user IDs to set these values when creating or updating accounts. |

Example workflows
Save target companies as accounts
Find companies that fit your target criteria, then save them as accounts your team can manage in Apollo.
- Call organization search to find target companies. Retain the names and domains of the companies you want to save.
- Pass each company's details as an object in the
accountsarray of bulk create accounts, with up to 100 accounts per request. Setrun_dedupetotrueto also match existing accounts by domain, organization ID, or name. - Retain the account IDs returned for newly created and existing accounts. Use these IDs when you need to view or update the saved records.
Bulk create doesn't change matched accounts. To apply new values to those records, pass their account IDs and the changes to an update endpoint.

id. - Call list account stages and retain the ID of the destination stage.
- Call get a list of users and retain the ID of the intended owner.
- Pass the account IDs as
account_ids, the stage ID asaccount_stage_id, and the user ID asowner_idto bulk update accounts. The same stage and owner are applied to all accounts you include.
To assign different values to each account, use account_attributes instead. Asynchronous processing is only supported with account_ids. If you're only changing ownership, you can use update account owner for multiple accounts.
